For more than three decades, Kris An Charles Investments Company Ltd. has proudly stood beside Jamaica’s essential workers. Since opening our doors in 1992, we have recognized the extraordinary service of the men and women who keep our communities safe, healthy, and operational. Supporting them has never been a symbolic gesture for us; it has been a core part of who we are.
This year, that commitment was tested in a way our nation has not seen for decades. Hurricane Melissa left a trail of widespread structural damage across Jamaica, affecting homes, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure. Among some of the hardest hit were our frontline heroes, police officers, firefighters, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who, even while facing personal loss, continue to serve the public selflessly.
In the aftermath of the storm, Kris An Charles moved swiftly to assist the brave men and women of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and healthcare workers in beginning their recovery. As part of our ongoing commitment to resilience and national recovery, we provided hundreds of relief packages to those directly affected by the disaster.
Understanding the urgent need for safe homes and restored facilities, we also supported the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) by making cash donations to their rebuilding fund, which aims to repair and rehabilitate the homes of these essential workers. Several members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade were significantly impacted by the hurricane.
Our response was driven not only by the resources of our company but also by the compassion and generosity of our team. Recognizing that many other Jamaicans were also deeply affected, the members of Kris An Charles organized their own collection and will contribute funds to the Food for the Poor Special Hurricane Relief Fund in Jamaica (FFTP). Our goal was clear: to assist those in greatest need as quickly as possible.
Additionally, our team members volunteered their time, donated supplies, and worked diligently to ensure that relief items were packed, transported, and delivered efficiently. Their spirit of service reflected that of the frontline workers we aimed to support.
Together, our team and company honoured our long-standing commitment: when our essential workers and communities are in need, we will show up!
